At the age of 34, Ujjal Mukhopadhyay had already written and directed numerous plays. His theatrical works have been staged in Kolkata, Cooch Behar, Medinipur, Malda, Murshidabad, Bihar, and several other places.

Among his notable achievements:

  • He staged a play based on a story by literary figure Tarashankar Bandyopadhyay approximately 38 times.
  • A play based on the story of Mansamangal was performed around 14 times.
  • His production “Behula Lakshminder Pala” was staged about 112 times.
  • His play “Naginikanyar Kahini” (The Story of the Serpent Maiden) received recognition at district and state theatre festivals.

Apart from theatre, Ujjal Mukhopadhyay was also involved in producing television serials. He was associated with the cultural troupe “Birbhum Sanskriti Bahini.”

An English publication released by the Eastern Zonal Cultural Centre (EZCC) of the Government of India also mentioned his contribution to folk theatre and theatrical activities.
