Theatre Training Workshop to Promote Social Awareness

A theatre training workshop was organized in Labhpur, Birbhum, with the objective of creating social awareness through drama and cultural activities.

The workshop was conducted under the initiative of Birbhum Sanskriti Bahini, which has been actively involved in theatre and cultural movements for many years. Around 40 children and young participants took part in the training program.

The organizers emphasized that theatre is not merely a form of entertainment but also an effective medium for educating people, spreading social messages, and developing awareness about various social issues. Through acting exercises, stage activities, and group performances, participants were introduced to the fundamentals of theatre.

The report notes that modern society is facing numerous social challenges. Theatre can play a significant role in addressing these issues by encouraging critical thinking, cultural values, and social responsibility among young people.

The workshop included practical sessions on:

  • Acting techniques
  • Voice and speech training
  • Movement and expression
  • Character development
  • Group theatre exercises
  • Socially relevant themes in drama

The program was conducted under the guidance of Ujjal Mukhopadhyay, a theatre practitioner and cultural organizer associated with Birbhum Sanskriti Bahini. He explained how theatre can help children develop confidence, creativity, discipline, and communication skills.

The organizers expressed their intention to continue such training initiatives in the future so that more young people can become involved in cultural activities and contribute positively to society.
