Indian Theatre Festival
The popularity of district-level theatre festivals continues to grow. One such successful event was the Indian Theatre Festival, organized by Birbhum Sanskriti Bahini.
The festival was held from 17 to 20 November at Atolshiv, Labhpur (Birbhum). Several notable productions were staged during the event.
Among the performances presented was “Akeli”, directed and performed by Himani Shivpuri, the renowned actress. The festival also featured:
- “Lagal Boloban”, a production by Niva Arts, directed by Arun Bandyopadhyay.
- “Pagla Ghora”, presented by Rup Rasmunch Theatre Group.
- “Ami Noy Akash Aar”, another production directed by Bipin Kumar.
The report notes that the festival was conducted with the cooperation of the National School of Drama (NSD).
According to Ujjal Mukhopadhyay, an office-bearer of the organizing team, theatre lovers attended the festival in large numbers and filled the venue. The enthusiastic response from audiences demonstrated the growing interest in quality theatre productions in the region.
The festival successfully brought together theatre groups, directors, actors, and audiences, creating a vibrant cultural platform for the exchange of artistic ideas and performances.
